Top Tips for Ordering Flowers

One of the things that we hear most often when taking fresh flower orders is, "I have never done this before!' or "I haven't ordered flowers in a long time, I don't know what I want." Hey, no worries! We are here to help! Below are our top tips to know when ordering fresh flowers from your local florist!

Tip #1: What is important to you?

Is it the size of the arrangement, the quality of flowers, the design, the giftability? There are so many different ways to make a floral arrangement, knowing what is most important will help any floral designer. If the overall visual size of the arrangement is important, traditional styles can often be the way to go. The are typically bigger, using a standard glass vase and everyday flowers. If the quality of the flowers, use of unique colors or varieties and the design is important - this may result in a visually smaller arrangement but a more impactful design. If giving a good, meaningful gift is the goal - choose to have an arrangement designed in a more unique vase/container. Include other gift items such as a candle, bath item or home décor sign.

Tip #2: Communicate what occasion you are ordering for.

Sharing details of what occasion this order is for helps us give you the best gift and floral options. In some cases, a temporary floral design is best while in others, you may want to include a gift that will last for years to come.

Tip #3: Know your budget!

Knowing how much you want to spend is essential in the ordering process. There will almost always be fees of some kind (sales tax, delivery etc). If we know the total you want to spend, we can advise you on how to get the most for your money! For example, if you have a budget of $40 for a sympathy arrangement, we may suggest a plant or a sign rather than a fresh flower arrangement for a bigger impact.

Tip #4: Always work with a local florist.

This can be a florist local to you or to the delivery location. The key is to make sure that the person you are talking to has a physical location! There are so many "order taking" sites that simply take your order and pass to the local florist. Sounds great, right? No! They charge extra fees and there is no guarantee that the arrangement you picked is available for delivery in that area. Working with a local florist directly ensures that the arrangement, gift, colors and specifications you want are available AND you don't have to pay the transfer fees! Your welcome, we just saved you $$.

We hope these quick tips help you when placing your next floral order. You are always welcome to call/email/message us with any questions you may have. As always, we deliver fresh flowers, gifts, plants and more to the Central Kansas region!
